Where things should go — simple guidelines
North-East (Ishanya)
Pooja room, borewell, drinking water and the tulsi plant. Keep this corner light, clean and free of heavy storage.
South-East (Agneya)
Kitchen, gas stove, geyser, inverter and electrical panel. Cook facing east wherever possible.
South-West (Nairuti)
Master bedroom, heavy almirah and the cash locker — keep the locker door opening towards the north.
North-West (Vayavya)
Guest room, children's bedroom, grain store and the washing machine.
North
Money, documents and the main cash drawer. Keep this side more open with larger windows.
East
Main entrance, living room and morning-light windows. Avoid tall trees that block the sunrise.
Centre (Brahmasthan)
Keep it open and empty — no staircase, toilet, heavy pillar or storage in the middle of the house.
Staircase
Best in the south, west or south-west, turning clockwise with an odd number of steps.
Water tanks
Overhead tank in the west or south-west, underground sump in the north or north-east.
Toilets
North-west or west side. Never in the north-east corner or at the centre of the house.
Sleeping & study
Sleep with the head towards the south or east; study table facing east or north.
Mirrors & clutter
Fix mirrors on the north or east walls, and clear broken items and clutter from every corner.
These are general guidelines. Every plot and house is different, so send the details below before you change anything structural.
